I really should update this more, huh?
I know I've got a lot on my mind lately, but my dreams seems to be:
a) weirder than ever
b) nothing whatsoever to do with what's on my mind (work, The Future, flying to the US etc)
One was about wiping leaky fluid from Casper's eyes, only to discovered it was tinged with blood. Now, this might be because he broke a claw the other day and bled a bit, but it was really far more horrifying than the reality. I checked him carefully in the morning and he's the same small, perpetually hungry, cute black kitten he was before, minus blood leakage. *Shudder*
Then there was one that I can't really remember the plot of, but it involved the double act of James Corden and Matthew Horne. This is particularly weird because (to go back to the lettered bullets):
a) I've never watched Gavin & Stacey
b) The only thing I know about their TV series and film is that both got terrible reviews
c) I have neither thought about them recently nor spoken about them pretty much ever
I was expecting the usual last-month-before-flying I'm going to die in a fiery hellball type thing, but bleeding-eyed cats and allegedly mediocre British comics aren't my usual way of dealing with this.
... if it's annoying me, it must be annoying you by now.
If you'd like to follow me on Twitter, that would be grand. But don't feel you have to! x
There are only so many times you can apologise for not updating a blog. I try to keep my hand in with the whole LoudTwitter thing, but am beginning to think I should switch it off. It's a bit the blogging equivalent of Always On My Mind - gee, sorry I neglected you and treated you badly; you should know I was thinking about you which makes it all okay, right?
And I have been thinking about Vox, and this blog has a very special place in my heart. I don't necessarily want these bits of my life on my professional blog, and here is where the whole history of my marriage is written! I love that about it. I just don't necessarily have the time or inclination to update about everything at the same time, so I tend to give priority to work-related stuff which is time-sensitive. Which is a shame, because I really like the community here.
Anyway, stuff that has happened:
I'm now into the last year of my 20s, thanks to my birthday last week. Ashley is also celebrating not being 35 for another year, and we've had some lovely events. I had my hair all curled and teased for a Greek Independence Day Ball which would have been great if I hadn't started coming down with a cold just as we turned up! Ash has some pictures somewhere I will add later - with the 50s inspired dress, it really did look rather cool.
He gave me a lovely canvas depicting goldfish, and I gave him a shopping trip with me as he'd like some new clothes. Our friend Dan gave us a Wii Fit which pronounced that I had the body of a 40 year old, needed to lose weight and probably fell down a lot ("...that girl was always falling again and again..."). Whoops.
The kittens are as delightful as ever, too. Apart from the sniffling and the fact that my manager is away (leaving me as the entire department) all is well!
So, how have you been?
Stuff I did today:
- 09:38 It's not often I feel personally sad about celebrity news, but I've admired Natasha Richardson for a long time. Her poor family. #
Stuff I did today:
- 16:32 Made vanilla cupcakes (mini again) with melted white chocolate for icing. Used some plain white and dyed some pink and pistachio. #

I know it's incredibly lazy to just put a list of what's going on in my life on a blog. But this isn't a usual blog for me. It's not work, it's not talking about work and it's not professional in any way. It's me letting stuff out that might make me explode if I bottled it in, making friends with a bunch of nice people and occasionally making lists so that I can remember What I Was Doing When or What I'm Doing Next Week.
I hope you forgive me for that. For all I know, you actually like it. Oh weirdos, my weirdos.
Anyway, this is stuff that has been happening:
- I've been working lots
- I've been breaking in the world's most painful pair of hiking boots because instead of losing my extra 10lbs, I've gained another 14 on top. And been lazy.
- I've possibly started a novel. They usually go to Hell around the time I start talking about them, so that's the last I'll say unless I get to 10,000 words or something. (My record is 6,000 I think. Or maybe 4,000).
- Ashley and I have come up with an idea for a kids' book and half-written it and failed to do any more.
- I've been reading Howard Jacobson. He's dangerously insightful.
- I've been failing to write for BitchBuzz very much, but will do better.
- I've been playing with kittens, which is cool.
- I've been trying to catch up with people I haven't seen in ages.
- I've been going to social media brainstorm stuff (more of that on the "talking about work" blog)
- I've been making plans and dreams and schemes and changing them rapidly all the time, as per.
What have you been doing?
